What is a hackathon?
A hackathon is a creative and social event where students come together, share ideas and build cool software & hardware hacks during 48 hours. You learn immensely, interact with startups & companies and get to meet like-minded people from around the world. Don’t worry - it’s very beginner friendly!

When and where is UniHack?

Is UniHack free?
Yes! UniHack is entirely free for all attendees to participate. All you need to worry about is learning new skills, developing cool civic projects, and having fun!
How many members can a team have?
Teams are limited to a maximum number of 5 people.
What if I don't have a team?
We can help you join one on the day of the event, at the latest. We’ll have a team forming event where you can announce your availability and check others’ needs. If your team is already complete, you can skip it and go straight to work.
How do I register my team?
For now, just register individually. You will be able to create or join a team after the event begins.
When can I register?
The registration period for UniHack is open from November 9th until December 2nd, so hurry up and grab a spot.
What kind of projects can I work on?
Any software or hardware project you want! Moreover, we encourage you to find and implement a solution for a civic problem.
Can I use code written before the hackathon?
Only projects with fresh code are eligible for winning any prize. You can build on existing frameworks, however only your contribution will be judged.
Do I need to make my code public?
Yes, you should push your code to a public repository. You will keep full ownership, but judges should be able to access your work.
What happens if I get stuck?
We’ll have mentors available to help you out. Go look for them whenever you need!
What prizes can I win?
You can win prizes offered by track sponsors, and also the Grand Prize (worth 2000 EUR!).
How can I win the Grand Prize?
Our jury will give out points based on originality, complexity, completeness and UI/UX design. Bonus points will be awarded for projects with a civic focus. The best projects will be presented on the stage, and then everyone will vote for their favorites.
